Oulu Advanced Research on Service and Information Systems (OASIS)

Increased interactivity through modern ICT has opened up opportunities for influencing user behaviours. For instance, fostering healthier lifestyles through the web or mobile applications has become one of the most prominent areas for healthcare improvement. Other applications include greener energy behaviour or stronger passwords for security. We study persuasive systems design: Computerized software or information systems designed to shape behaviours without using coercion or deception.

The OASIS research group studies information systems and service innovation. It focuses on how information systems and services can best serve people and organizations to perform personal, knowledge work and other important activities. Research is in most cases carried out by constructing new concepts and technology and then experimenting with it. We emphasize investigating both the usefulness and the ease of use of such systems and services in parallel.
